Lauded as the "godfathers of psychobilly," The Meteors stormed the British club scene in the 1980s with a blistering brand of cranked-up rockabilly that left audiences ramped and restless and hungry for more. This video collection features 19 high-octane performances including "Psycho for Your Love," "Graveyard Stomp" and "Rockabilly Psychosis" recorded live in the "Night of the Long Knives“ alldayer in 1988 and four tracks recorded live at The Klub Foot, dating back to July 1987.

Edge-dancing auteurs Olaf Encke and Claudia Romero grind into satiating union taboo whimsy and intellectual adventurism, the scarlet storytelling crafting images of a fleshly past clerical sorts doubtless would find abhorrent -- but would probably secretly dig. The artwork is marvellously rendered -- colours, figures, and shadows loom with declarative presence. Too, the writing is of a markedly superior caliber. (Additional plus: a rocking soundtrack that features the Meteors, P. Paul solo, Crazy Cavan, and Moe Jaksch.) A headlong and hobnail-booted thrill-jaunt up into a saucily-splayed good/bad intimate realm.
Our photo stories really set us apart from other magazines. Again, we used a girl’s teen mag regular – the romantic photo story played out by young models and unknown actors – and Flexipopped it by injecting a whiff of sex, a dash of violence, a famous tale and a host of pop stars.But then we went one step too far. For our second anniversary issue, psychobilly band the Meteors were the stars of a Mad Max skit, Bad Bax, so named because of the obvious pun and the fact that Flexipop! designer, Mark Manning, had a ferocious looking bulldog called Baxter, a pussycat in reality. Baxter featured heavily in a photo story that contained totally realistic scenes of stabbings, limb hackings and cannibalism courtesy of a local butcher’s shop that provided a shitload of offal in return for a plug in the mag.The Flexipop! photo stories reflected the fun that was inherent in pop music in the early 80s. The punk snarl had turned into a skanking smile. There was a new romance in the air as Goths discovered melody.

The Meteors made this short film in late 1980 with comedian Keith Allen called Meteor Madness. It was released as a double feature with 2 Tone ska film Dance Craze in March 1981. The movie featured four songs, which made it onto the band's first vinyl single first issued on Ace Records and later on Big Beat. To date the film Meteor Madness has never been released on video or DVD.The tracks were also issued as a rare 12" mini-album called The Meteors Meet Screaming Lord Sutch. Soon after that they issued the double A-side anthems "Radioactive Kid" and "Graveyard Stomp".Sorry but its not the best quality copy.....
