In October of 1988, after three years of life on stage and rehearsals, and no records, the Emilio E A Tribo Do Rum cease their activities. In November of that same year, Capitão Fantasma (The Phantom Captain) starts, relying on the three elements of the defunct band: Jorge Bruto (voice), Pinela (passing of bassist for guitarist) and Nazare (who is now invited to play bass). To these Manolo joins ex Crise Total, assuming the battery. They are a rock n'roll band with influences of R & B, hillbilly or garage bands. In 1989, the group play in the small Bar circuit all over Portugal, playing a furious rock n'roll that starts gathering a legion of admirers, assuming as a cult band. At that time, Oeiras is the drummer of the group following the departure of Manolo. In March 1991, he will be replaced by Tiago Sergio. The União records proposes them the recording of their first album but due to some differences with the publisher, and the fact that 1990 has been a busy year with Jorge Bruto and Manolo getting injured and Nazare pregnant, the proposal does not materialize and is left out. When they sign a contract with Polygram, in May 1992, finally it will materialize in the form of an LP called "Hu UA UA" and that will be recorded in Êxito Studio by Jonathan Miller and production of Fernando Cunha. This work has the support of Luís Sampaio (piano) and Fredo Mergner (guitar solo) on the cover has a photograph of Ricardo, the baby son of Pinela and Nazare. In 1993, in a room full of action in Gartejo (Lisbon) they present a new guitarist, André Joaquim. The following year, Pinela and Nazare abandon the band going through a sort of limbo period which is only surpassed in 1995, with the entry of Paulo (guitar), and Hugo (bass). That's when you receive the invitation of Drunk Records for participation in a compilation with two themes from the publisher, that don't happen because they sign for União Lisboa and the band goes to London with the intention of recording a new album which will be released in May 1996 and presentation will be preceded by the single Clube do Ódio (Hate Club). The sound is now more rude and less rockabilly. The album Contos Do Imaginário E Do Bizarro (Tales From the Imaginary And The Bizarre) was recorded in studios In Heaven, having been produced by Paul Fenech (the legendary frontman of The Meteors). This, like the previous album, its a classic in the history of Rock in Portugal.
