They began playing in the streets of the city of Coimbra (Portugal), having been expelled by the police every time. Later the band played on the stage of the city students party, that show was marked by the naked performance of its elements. The band name Tédio Boys (Boredom boys) is, according to singer Toni Fortuna, because of the boredom of the youth that lived in the city of Coimbra at that time. The big breakthrough was made in the USA, where they made several tours and even played in the B-day party of Joey Ramone! They also played at The Big Rumble Festival. The press often compared their fuel injected wiry psycho–bop to the Cramps, Gun Club and Screamin’ Jay Hawkins music.“…these guys are the baddest fucking psychobilly I’ve ever heard“ – Maximum Rock’n’Roll. Nicely said but to really capture the whole synergy and get the true spirit you had to see them live, never pre-meditated, always surprising, unlike many groups today pretending they live in the fifties, singing about pin-ups and hot rods. The Tédio Boys were an all-out rock’n’roll powerhouse capable of matching today's best live acts, they knew how to channel America’s garage-punk past, nasty and greasy without a trace of post-modern irony, simply reacting to the stimulus at hand. Currently, various elements have other projects. Toni sings in D3o, Kalo is in Bunnyranch as drummer and vocalist. The guitarist Victor Torpedo shook London with The Parkinsons and Paulo Furtado now plays in Wraygunn and with his solo project Legendary Tiger Man. Last year Rodrigo Fernandes and Rita Alcaire made a documentary Filhos do Tedio (Children of Boredom) is a 48 minutes documentary about the route of this mythical band. Tédio Boys was a band with a unique history in Portugal. Despite not having great media coverage at the the time, its influence in the Portuguese music is huge!
Only the Tédio Boys are pure Porkabilly!
Check them out....
