Sinful - Demo 86

Sinful were originally called Sven69 and formed in 1982.They took their name from Sven Porn magazine shop,Westmoreland Rd,Newcastle. The band quickly developed musically and stylistically. They were drawing alot of their influences from the new bands of the day,ie The Stray Cats/Shakin' Pyramids/Restless etc. They re christened themselves Sinful. They felt it suited their image and style of music better. The first line up had Dom singing and playing a miked up acoustic guitar. His cousin played bass guitar, and school mate Steven Jackson played the drums.Time passed and Dom's cousin was eventually replaced by a new bass player called Russell Wright. It was around 1983. Later they change the line up  and it consisted of Dominic Malia on guitar/vocals. Simon (Spook and the Ghouls) Badminton on d/bass and Jacko on drums. They were a really tight unit and individually good at playing their instuments. They were the headling band and the 2 local support bands were The Pharoahs and the Vipers.Other venues they played regularly were The Riverside,Melbourne St, (Supporting Restless/Guana Bats etc) Eddie's Bar in Newcastle with support from The Deadrocks. Sinful dispanded around 1987. Simon went on to form Spook and the Ghouls,Dom formed The WildCats with Hylton Valentine( ex Animals),and Jacko became a fireman. Jacko was also the bands poster designer and drew really good caricatures of the band. It's a shame they did'nt get the chance to record an album of their material at the time.
